Theme: Foster Care – Challenges, Research, Practice

This issue will be devoted to the issue of foster care from pedagogical, psychological, social, legal, and interdisciplinary perspectives. The aim of this issue is to provide a platform for presenting research findings, theoretical analyses, and practitioner experiences regarding the functioning of the foster care system, support for children and youth, and those involved in caring for children deprived of the opportunity to grow up in their biological families. We encourage submissions of theoretical, empirical, and review articles, as well as descriptions of best practices.

Proposed topics include:

- family conditions of social orphanhood – risk factors and protective resources,

- contemporary models and organization of foster care,

- functioning of selected forms of foster care,

- experiences of children and youth in foster care,

- inter-institutional cooperation for the benefit of children and families,

- preparing foster care residents for independence,

- mental health, well-being, and resilience of children and youth in foster care,

- bonds, relationships, and the process of building a sense of security,

- contact with biological family and the family reintegration process,

- foster care for children with special developmental and educational needs,

- pedagogical, psychological, and therapeutic support for children and families,

- quality of life and developmental prospects for foster care residents,

- innovative solutions and best practices in the organization and implementation of foster care,

- comparative and international research on foster care systems.
