Abstract

The article addresses the significance of values education in the context of preschool education, emphasizing its crucial role in the process of the child’s development. It presents the importance of values in preschool education, indicating their various classifications, including the one proposed by Leon Dyczewski. The tasks of preschool educators and the goals of preschool as an educational institution are discussed. The article also touches on the priorities of national education policy, which emphasizes values education, underlining the importance of axiology in shaping the young individual. An analysis of the Preschool Education Core Curriculum was conducted, revealing that the educational goals assigned to physical, emotional, social, and cognitive development of the child address values from the groups of vital, sociocentric, ethical, aesthetic, and cognitive values. The article seeks to understand which groups of values appear in the document that serves as the basis for planning educational and developmental activities in preschool education. Axiological competencies, which form the foundation for understanding both oneself and the surrounding world, are therefore an essential element in the process of shaping the moral identity of the individual, being a key aspect of moral and social education in children.
