Students’ Social Competences and the Intensity of Activities and Social Interactions in Adolescence

Abstract

The article explores the relationship between the level of social competences among students and the intensity of natural social training during adolescence. The study was conducted among psychology students at the University of Radom, using the Social Competence Questionnaire and the Social Training Questionnaire. The results show that higher social activity in youth – such as peer relationships and participation in social activities – positively correlates with the level of social competences, particularly in the area of social exposure. Statistical analysis confirms that women and individuals who are more socially active demonstrate a higher social competence. The authors recommend systemic support for activities that develop social skills, both within and outside the school environment. They also emphasize the need to increase the role of teachers in creating spaces conducive to social interaction. The article highlights shortcomings in the development of social competences within the education system and advocates their stronger integration into educational practices.
