Pedagogical Thought and Its Worldview Foundation as a Component of the Object of Research of Contemporary General Pedagogy

Abstract

Pedagogical thought usually fully reveals the accepted image of man and the world, and therefore what constitutes a specific worldview. A special feature of pedagogical thought is its general form, within which the very issue of upbringing and education is understood from the perspective of a holistic consideration of human experience. It can be considered both from the perspective of the history of pedagogical ideas and from the perspective of the systematisation of selected problems, ideas, conceptual or doctrinal positions. The very issue of the impact of pedagogical thought on educational practice can be considered both in terms of direct and indirect influence. However, its value is never identical with the possibility of its direct and immediate application in practice. The value of pedagogical thought is measured by the richness of intellectual horizons, and consequently by a deeper understanding of the complexity of the experience of upbringing and education. Therefore, pedagogical thought becomes an arena for the exposition of specific ideas, concepts and educational models, thus becoming part of the object of interest of general pedagogy.
