The article analyzes the Eight Beatitudes in fundamental theology, examining Jesus’ intentions and how they relate to Christophany. The author argues that Jesus had himself and his life experiences in mind. By uttering the beatitudes, he was revealing his divine nature. A Christophany-based analysis explains Jesus’ words. Jesus is the only source of true blessing for the world. His words call for adherence to Him. The analysis focuses on the three blessings as ipsissima verba Iesu. The methods of exegesis used are canonical exegesis, biblical hermeneutics, deduction and analogy of faith. A new look at the Eight Beatitudes in the context of Christophany leads to a deeper understanding of their meaning and impact on the lives of believers. Four aspects of the Christophany function were distinguished: Christological, soteriological, revealing and communion-creating.
