Using Case Study Method in School Research

Abstract

The aim of the article is to indicate a different approach to the case study and various possibilities of designing the research process with its use as one of the methods used to acquire knowledge about reality, including school. The analysis of the literature shows that the case study has a very strong position in the methodology of social research and is commonly used by representatives of various sciences, which causes differences in its understanding. This justifies expanding the field of discussion and reflection on this issue. The article will present exemplary study definitions, basic methodological assumptions used in own research in the context of study rules and two examples of studies by other authors, as illustration of the possibilities of various approaches to the research process within the case study.
