Contemporary Parenting in the Perspective of Pedagogy

Abstract

The article, analytical in nature, has been written based on scientific, in particular pedagogical, literature. It aims to present contemporary parenting in terms of pedagogy, understood as the process of upbringing and socialisation of the child. The concept of parenting is explained here, its types and attributes are distinguished and briefly presented. Additionally, the factors affecting parenting (motherhood and fatherhood), on a micro and macro level, and their correlations are discussed. Furthermore, the article considers parenting as the process of mutual development of parents and children (reciprocity of interactions). Attention is also paid to the satisfaction of children’s needs, their development and integral upbringing, i.e. how parents contribute to care, education and socialisation of their children. These have always been subjected to multi-faceted analyses in pedagogy.
