Competences of Preschool Children in the Process of Conversation About Conversation. Solving Communication Misunderstandings

Abstract

The article deals with the child’s participation in conversation with an adult and his ability to solve communication failures. The author characterizes the conversation and points to communication and metacommunication competencies of preschool children referring to selected studies. Then she presents the assumptions of her research. The research material was collected during individual interviews with children conducted since 2019. The article presents a fragment of the research material. Based on the analysis of the studies, four categories of avoidance and resolution of failures by children aged 3-6 years were identified and described.
