Trust as a Value in Education and Upbringing

Abstract

The aim of the article is to indicate the need to build trust as a fundamental value in the process of upbringing and education. Trust is relational in nature, because it concerns the mutuality of persons: the student and the teacher/educator, provides the basis for creating good interpersonal communication, valuable bonds, effective cooperation. It is necessary to indicate the significant relationship between trust in the teacher and the effectiveness of the teaching process and the skills of students. Building and strengthening trust is a complex process that takes place during educational interactions and various activities of the student, both educational ones at school, as well as extracurricular ones during joint activities in extracurricular classes. The experience of meeting the teacher as a significant person is very important in the process of building trust, both in the context of the contemporary crisis of upbringing, as well as the need to define the professional identity of the teacher, educator, or the need to discover and disseminate timeless ideals and personal models that implemented values in their lives.
