Positive Orientation and Perceptions of Positive Changes in Functioning During the COVID-19 Pandemic in Persons in Emerging Adulthood – Resilience as a Moderator

Abstract

The aim of this research is to analyse the relationship between positive orientation and perceived positive changes in functioning during the COVID-19 pandemic in people in emerging adulthood, taking into account the moderating role of resilience. A diagnostic questionnaire survey method and technique was used, which included the instruments: Positive Orientation Scale, Perceived Positive Changes in Student Functioning During the Pandemic COVID-19 Scale and the Resiliency Assessment Scale. Statistically significant correlations were found between the study variables. Furthermore, the results indicate that resilience plays a moderating role in the relationship between positive orientation and perceived positive changes in functioning during the COVID-19 pandemic in individuals in emerging adulthood. The results presented here extend previous knowledge on positive adaptation in individuals in emerging adulthood. Findings from the present research can inform the design of interventions that enhance individual potential and incorporate resilience.
