Foreign Language Education in the Age of AI

The Editorial Board of Roczniki Humanistyczne, Fascicle 10: Glottodidactics (Language Education) would like to invite scholars to submit contributions to the 2027 issue, which focuses on foreign language teaching/learning in the age of AI.

The dynamic development of artificial intelligence (AI), particularly large language models (LLMs), machine learning, and adaptive systems, are exerting a transformative influence on contemporary language education. Intelligent language learning support systems offer new opportunities for personalising the teaching process, supporting learner autonomy in modelling language interaction and automating feedback. This thematic issue will provide a platform for sharing empirical research results, theoretical analyses and descriptions of innovative teaching solutions concerning the use of AI in foreign language teaching and learning.

Articles proposed in relation to the issues suggested above should focus on the following aspects:

  1. Personalisation of the learning process using AI
  2. Intelligent language tutors and adaptive systems
  3. Interactions between learners and AI systems, and their impact on communication skills
  4. LLMs and chatbots in foreign language learning
  5. Teaching effectiveness of AI systems (experimental and quasi-experimental designs)
  6. Limitations, errors and risks associated with the use of AI
  7. The role of the foreign language teacher in an AI-supported environment
  8. AI in foreign language teacher training
  9. Ethical and cultural aspects of the use of AI in language teaching.

We await the submission of proposals for thematically profiled papers (with a title and summary of about 200 words) by September 30, 2026 to the address of the Secretary of Fascicle 10: Dr Anna Majewska-Wójcik, annamaj-woj@o2.pl.

The authors of the proposals initially accepted will then be asked to send texts up to 40,000 characters (including summaries and key words) to the Editorial Board via the online system http://ojs.tnkul.pl/index.php/rh/, after being registered as an author. We kindly ask you to use the APA citation style.
