The conditions for the success of a homiletic text are most often expressed in terms of formal typological principles. However, a homily requires not only correct form but also practical impact. Hence there arises the interesting question of how a homily may achieve intended practical effects without compromising its structural qualities. This is the present article’s motivation for describing the concept of the speech construction strategy. Firstly, consideration will be given to two different, yet interdependent concepts, namely, methods and strategies. Then, it will be shown how incorporating planned actions into a homiletic text can be an effective way to increase its practical impact.
