Dusza i jej istnienie po śmierci według kard. Josepha Ratzingera

Abstract

The aim of the article is to present an outline of the question of the existence of the human soul after death according to Joseph Ratzinger, since the topics related to eschatology nowadays are very rarely discussed, especially the problem of the existence of the spiritual substance after death. In these considerations I will use Ratzinger’s texts taken exclusively from his Eschatology. At the beginning the essence of the concept of soul in the Bavarian theologian will be presented followed by a brief analysis of the documents of the Magisterium of the Church, which Ratzinger analyses in his reflections. The issue related to the „rehabilitation” of the concept of the soul will also be addressed, as well as the issue of the „interstate”. An important role in Ratzinger’s theology within this issue is played by its Christological aspect within the so-called „dialogical” aspect of the existence of the soul after death. Finally, the statement will be summed up, which will be combined with several conclusions.
