Possibilities for Using Coaching by a Teacher of Religion Working with Disabled People

Marian Zając

Abstract

This article presents a proposal for how a religion teacher can be involved in the work of assisting pupils with various disabilities through a coaching strategy commonly used in education. The study will be based on a narrative stating that activating spiritual motives in overcoming limitations related to a congenital or acquired disability can bring good results, especially when other activities prove to be insufficient. The material presenting this issue will be selected studies on coaching and publications related to the theology of disability. First, a short analysis of the existing proposals will be made, and then specific ways of acting will show how a teacher can apply the coaching strategy to help people with disabilities. The ultimate motivation for such activity is the fact that everyone is called to do good by patiently bearing their own limitations and helping those who suffer from personal disabilities.
