Education and the Teacher – Psychological Aspects of Social Cognition

Abstract

The process of social cognition and people’s interpersonal behaviour are inextricably linked and extend to all areas of social life, including education as I outline in this article. Social cognition, which concerns how people think about themselves and the social world around them, is a process that plays an extremely important role in everyone’s life. It enables the acquisition of knowledge and experience, as well as orientation to everyday reality. It is necessary for the formulation of judgements and decision-making, which are prerequisites for effective action, and knowledge of the regularities that guide social cognition is important in relationship-based educational work.
