Idyll in the Shadow of the Swastika. Stefan Badeni in Wartime Budapest

Abstract

The article concerns the stay of the emigre historian, essayist, publicist and author of memoirs, Stefan Badeni, in Hungary during World War II. This is a relatively little-known episode in the history of Polish exile in Hungary and the history of Polish-Hungarian relations. The writer’s activity at that time has escaped the attention of both Polish and Hungarian researchers, and it is an important historical and literary contribution to the image of the war history of Poles in Hungary.

Keywords:
