A Dictionary of Polish Literature on War and Occupation: Contexts and Challenges

Abstract

This article presents the challenges associated with the creation of a two-volume Dictionary of Polish Literature of the War and Occupation. The author discusses the principles of the adopted timeframe for literature on war and occupation, the selection of source material (based primarily on published works of fiction, supplemented by autobiographical and pop-cultural texts), the selection of entries and the semantic correlations between them, and finally, the technical challenges of coordinating the activities of the large team of contributors (nearly eighty researchers from Poland).
