This article analyses the participation of Don Pedro Scotti de Agóiz in the Diccionario de autoridades (1726-1739) of the Royal Spanish Academy, based on the hypothesis put forward by Salvador Rosa (1985) on his possible contribution to the inclusion of the words ascribed to the territory of La Rioja, where he held the post of corregidor. For this purpose, a detailed study has been made of the academic records concerning the period when the dictionary was written, and also of his correspondence with the secretary of the scholarly house, Don Vicencio Squarzafigo Centurión y Arriola. Even though the documentary sources preserved in the archives of the Royal Spanish Academy attest to his stay in La Rioja, it is not possible to confirm his involvement, or that of any other scholar, in the inclusion of the lexicon of this region.
