Music and Emotions in a Discoursive Perspective on the Example of COVID-19 Pandemic

Abstract

The aim of the article is to show the role of music in regulating emotions in times marked by the COVID-19 pandemic. The text discusses the most important functions of music in the times of the plague, on the example of selected studies by psychologists. Therefore, the essence of the deliberations is to show how music helped to reduce stress and difficult emotions related to the period of social isolation, about the COVID songs, which were ubiquitous during the pandemic. The latter are extremely interesting exemplifications of the discourse on emotions, fears, and anxieties sung during the pandemic. At the same time, they are also an example of a discourse that gives encouragement and hope for the future.
