Les termes juridiques français associés à l’enfance et les enjeux de leur traduction vers le polonais

Abstract

This article examines the translation of legal terms related to childhood from French into Polish. It first presents the terms from both languages that should be taken into account in the translation process and discusses their scope of use in each language. Next, several methods are presented that can be used to find equivalents for the terms in question, the most effective of which seems to be the search for a functional equivalent that fits the specific context of the translated text. It is also important to analyse EU texts in terms of the language used in them and the role that European Union legislation plays in shaping Polish terminology related to childhood.
