Developing Effective Listening in Native and Foreign Languages in Plurilingual Education in Grades IV-VIII

Abstract

The aim of this article is to verify whether the concept of plurilingual education is being implemented in primary school while learning to listen effectively. For this purpose, the author analyses the core curriculums of the following: Polish, a modern foreign language, a national minority language, and a regional language(Kashubian). The research shows that the integration of listening-related teaching content is non-existent at school, the core curriculum provisions are chaotic and do not reflect the specificity of speech perception. Therefore, acquiring one holistic listening competence in multiple languages seems impossible.
