Didactic Project in Teaching Latin Language and Ancient Culture

Abstract

The main aim of the article is to present the possibilities of of applying the didactic project method in teaching Latin language and ancient culture. The basis for the description and analysis are two projects: Our mythical history and Our mythical nature, realized in 2018-2021 by students of the Bartłomiej Nowodworski I High School in Cracow. These projects were the educational component of the international research project Our mythical childhood… The reception of classical antiquity in children’s and young adults’ culture in response to regional and global challenges. In the article, the author, referring to glottodidactic theories and key competences, evaluates the effectiveness of the didactic project as a method of teaching Latin and ancient culture. It concludes by presenting the advantages of using the modern 4P4C methodology, which is based on the theory of creative learning and proposes a new model for the holistic teaching of future competences.
