Stanisław Budyn

Abstract

The aim of this article is to present the history of the Polish pastoral ministry in Germany. Its origins date back to the end of the 17th century, when August II Mocny became king of the Republic of Poland. It developed in the nineteenth century and weakened after Poland regained its independence in 1918, as many Poles then returned to their homeland. After the outbreak of World War II, Poles were German actions, they were deported to the Third Reich, where they were sent to concentration camps. As a result, after the end of hostilities, there were again a lot of Poles in the areas again. Some of them returned to Poland, but others settled in the place of their previous residence. For them, a pastoral ministry began to be organised in 1945, which has continued to the present day. Polish pastoral workers come there to work among their compatriots, who have remained permanently in Germany.
