The Polish Episcopal Commission for KUL was established in the interwar period and operated until 1996. It consisted of high-ranking hierarchs of the Polish Church. During the period of interest to us, it was chaired by Stefan Wyszyński. The Commission was an intermediary body between the University and the Polish Episcopal Conference. The most important areas of the Commission's activity were presented: the material foundations of the University financed by church funds, concern for the mission of the Catholic University, the academic community, the structure of the university and the teaching process, and relations with the government of the Polish People's Republic. Finally, conclusions were drawn regarding the role and significance of the Commission in the history of KUL.
