Catechetical Education Through Charity Work

Stanisław Łabendowicz

Abstract

Education of a young person is a complex process that takes place in different environments such as family, school, catechesis, as well as school and parochial charity groups. There is a need for formation meetings for students who want to deepen their faith in God, but also seek the meaning of service to others. Such formation groups can develop students' intellect, deepen their faith, teach them social behavior based on Christian values, and educate young people so that they live their lives according to such values. By setting up special educational situations, contemporary catechesis prepares children and youth for active participation in the life of the Church and various social structures as the catechized can transfer the learned experiences into their real lives. In this way, the students acquire the ability to entrust themselves to God and serve the neighbor. The foundation of education through charity work is to give witness to Christian love and deepen the spiritual and personal relationship with God.
