The Archbishop’s Palace at the Market Square in Lviv during the time of Wacław Hieronim Sierakowski

Abstract

This article presents the history of the construction and transformation of the Archbishop’s Palace at 9 Market Square in Lviv, based on unpublished archival materials. Particular attention is paid to the appearance of the palace during the rule of Wacław Hieronim Sierakowski in the archdiocese. The basis for the reconstruction of the functional interior of the palace is a description made at the request of Sierakowski in middle of 1780 and a watercolour stored in the Historical Museum in Lviv, showing the façade of the palace before the reconstruction which started after 1844.
