This article aims to explore a series of shipwrecks in the context of the Duke of Crillon’s capture of the island of Menorca in 1782. In addition to highlighting some logistical weaknesses in naval operations and deepening our understanding of navigation at the time, the most significant aspect is to contextualise meteorological factors as a contribution to the study of climate history.
