Abstract

This article seeks to answer how Donald Trump has managed to remain relevant across the worlds of business, media, and politics for more than five decades, and how he ultimately consolidated such a powerful political legacy. The research employs a triangulation methodology that integrates qualitative interviews, discourse analysis of political speeches, and social media analysis, complemented by an audiovisual examination of the documentary Trump: An American Dream, a British production by Channel 4 distributed globally through Netflix. Through this mixed-methods approach, the study reconstructs the long-term evolution of Trump’s communication strategies and identifies recurring patterns of demagogic rhetoric.

The findings suggest that Trump’s political identity did not emerge suddenly during his presidential campaigns but rather developed over decades through the strategic use of media visibility, personal branding, and narrative conflict. Ultimately, the article argues that contemporary demagoguery thrives in media ecosystems that allow leaders to bypass institutional mediation and communicate directly, emotionally, and continuously with their audiences.
