About

Focus and Scope

Rocznik Nauk Społecznych is a scholarly journal published by the Learned Society of the Catholic University of Lublin in cooperation with the University. It has been published continuously since 1949, providing a forum for independent scientific discussion. It aims to publish the latest scientific research and reliable knowledge on current social problems.

The Journal has an open character – it presents the results of research by academics from a wide range of national and international backgrounds, focusing on cooperation between scholars and researchers from Poland, Central Europe and elsewhere in Europe. Our publications deal with social sciences in three disciplines: sociology, security studies, social communication and media, as well as interdisciplinary approaches. One aim of Roczniki is to participate in international scientific discussion and reflect on problems relevant from Central European and local perspectives.

We publish original problem articles, research reports, reviews, and polemics. You are invited to submit texts in Polish and English. Proposals in other congress languages are considered individually by the Editor-in-Chief for publication. Detailed guidelines are provided in the For authors section

Our Editorial Board reserves the right of preliminary evaluation and selection of submitted material. Articles undergo an anonymous, double-blind peer review process, which is free of charge, see sections: Publication ethics and Fees, sources of funding. Our editors are committed to ensuring that publications meet the highest standards of scientific integrity and publishing ethics relative to scientific text. Submissions are checked for possible similarity with other publications using iThenticate software, as outlined in the Anti-plagiarism system section.

Articles accepted for publication receive a DOI number and are archived free of charge on the Journal website and, from 2020, also in the University’s Institutional Repository. All articles published in Roczniki are available online and can be downloaded free of charge. Our publishing policy rests on the assumption that making research freely available contributes to the dissemination of knowledge internationally and to discussion at the local level. A detailed explanation can be found here.

The publishing cycle: 4 issues per year (March, June, September, December). Articles accepted for publication are published on an ongoing basis as online first.

The Journal is published in thematic issues dealing with sociology, security sciences, and social communication and media, as proposed by individual editors. Every year, each of these disciplines is represented.

Each issue contains a collection of thematic articles and texts in the section Varia presenting the latest research in the area of social sciences within the thematic scope of the Journal. The last section contains reviews of monographs and collective works that are important for the disciplines covered by the Journal.

Articles are accepted on an ongoing basis. Information about thematic issues can be found under Announcements.

Roczniki Nauk Społecznych is indexed in various databases including EBSCO, ERIH +, Index Copernicus, CEEOL, CEJSH, MOST Wiedzy, Arianta, Polona, Library of Science, KUL’s Institutional Repository.
