Immersive Non-Fiction Media in User Reception: An Analysis of VR Experience Reviews in the Meta Ecosystem

Abstract

The aim of the article is to show how users experience and evaluate immersive VR non-fiction narratives within the Meta ecosystem. A total of 180 public reviews of three titles (Anne Frank House VR, National Geographic Explore VR, Goliath: Playing with Reality) were analyzed. Content analysis was conducted using an original coding framework covering four dimensions of message quality, along with coding of values and sentiment. The most frequently reported issues concerned content, while application stability prevailed among technical difficulties. Positive reviews emphasized the sense of presence, emotional engagement, and educational value. The conclusions indicate that the reception of VR non-fiction depends on balancing the elimination of user barriers with the delivery of cognitively and emotionally meaningful content.
