Western Countries’ Sanctions Against Russia

Abstract

The article presents the sanctions that Western countries have applied against Russia after its attack on Ukraine. There are 14 rounds of adopted sanctions and restrictions, the purpose of which is to end the conflict. It talks about the escalation of the restrictions, indicates the areas in which they are applied, shows the solutions applied to individuals and institutional and economic entities. It is worth noting the asymmetry in the application of sanctions, which on the part of Western countries focus on quality solutions including advanced technologies or specialized services, while retaliation focuses on raw material supplies and their price levels. The point is to indicate a certain asymmetry of the solutions used. This asymmetry is observed not only in the spheres of sanctions, but also in their ability to impact the economies of the countries applying the restrictions and the country against which these restrictions are applied. The intended research objectives are: to show what sanctions and how they were applied, how their scope was increased, what was the response of the sanctioned market, and who joined the application of sanctions.

Keywords:

sanctions, retaliations, escalation of Western sanctions, areas of applied sanctions, economic sensitivity to sanctions
