Abstract

The article is an attempt to present the theological dimension of the poem Ruiny Cypriana Norwid. The author of the article focuses on the ways of talking about human death and resurrection, confirming the poet’s deep religiosity. Norwidʼs understanding of the problems of Christian eschatology also allows for the reconstruction of the concept of sepulchral art inscribed in the text of the early poem. The article emphasizes the novelty of Norwidʼs interpretation of a municipal cemetery − as a sacred burial place and culture-forming space, in which the shape and appearance of graves and the sculptures decorating them, understood as works of religious art, play a key role.
