Norwid from the end in the poets’ verses (versions)

Abstract

This article examines traces of Norwid’s biography in the poetry of the 20th and 21st century. Using selected examples, it highlights the motivations, forms and dominant themes of references to Norwid’s stay at St Casimir’s Institution between 1877 and 1883. The essay draws on the poetics of Atlas polskiego romantyzmu [Atlas of Polish Romanticism] and outlines the history of St Casimir’s Institution. The conclusions drawn from these observations lead to an attempt to define the rules and dynamics of poetic “biographism from the end”.
