Money Laundering and Terrorism Financing Risk Assessment of the Obliged Entities under Regulation 2024/1624 of 31 May 2024 against the Background of Existing Legal Solutions

Abstract

One of the areas that will change as a result of the adoption of Regulation 2024/1624 is the process of identifying and assessing money laundering and terrorist financing risk at obligated entities, which should be considered one of these entities’ key responsibilities. The study aims to verify the following research theses: 1) the solutions introduced with respect to the obligated entities ML/FT risk assessment do not constitute a revolution but rather an evolution of the currently applicable solutions; 2) the solutions introduced with respect to the obligated entities ML/FT risk assessment eliminate previously identified regulatory deficiencies in this risk assessment. This article is the first study of these issues in the legal literature.
