The Question about Essence of Religion and Its Place in Culture

Abstract

The article presents the understanding of religion and its role in culture developed in academic environment of Faculty of Philosophy of Catholic University of Lublin. Religion is conceived as a relational being, as a personal reference of human person to personal God who is the source and the aim of human life. The realization of human being depends on this dynamic and dialogical relation.

Religion is not only an aspect of human life but it is the way of life in the perspective of God. It necessarily manifests itself in man’s cognitive, moral, artistic and social activities. Religion invests culture with a transcendent dimension.
