Władysław Stróżewski’s Ethics of Affirmation in Relation to Deep Ecology

Abstract

This article aims to consider the potential significance of Władysław Stróżewski’s ethical project for research and reflection conducted within the framework of environmental ethics. To achieve that, the main issues of this philosophical current were outlined, and selected views and theses were chosen that appear to correspond with the core themes of Stróżewski’s reflections. An analysis of the philosophical background of the ethics of affirmation, as well as its norms and the resulting life attitude, reveals convergences that confirm the theses proposed in the introduction. The philosophical divergences between the concepts under consideration prove to be reconcilable due to their pluralistic and universalistic nature. The analyses were based on texts by representatives of deep ecology and their commentaries. Stróżewski’s key text was interpreted in the context of his other writings.
