This study presents the issue of the jurisdiction of higher religious superiors over members of third orders on the example of the Secular Fraternities of Saint Dominic of the Order of Friars Preachers of the Polish Province. The author started from general regulations regarding superior management included in the Code of Canon Law, and then analyzed the Rule, General Declarations and the Lay Directory of the Order of Preachers of the Polish Province in the light of the Book of Constitutions and Orders of the Friars Preachers. On this basis, in the study, the author discussed third orders as a type of associations of the faithful, pointed out the relationship of third orders to religious institutes, and presented the basis for the exercise of power by higher religious superiors in third orders as well as solutions and the resulting rights regarding the jurisdiction of the Order of Friars Preachers towards the Secular Fraternities of Saint Dominic.
